With reports about Hurricane Hilary expected to arrive in the Los Angeles area this weekend, I wanted to assure you that the university has plans in place to respond to emergencies, including ones related to weather.

This Thursday, May 18, DPS will partner with the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, and others in a drill at the Health Sciences Campus (HSC) that will simulate an active shooter situation.
Our unifying goal with this initiative is to create a digital backbone that embeds computational power, digital literacy, and evolving technologies into all disciplines. By enhancing pedagogy and programs in all 22 diverse schools and institutes at USC, we will prepare leaders to be digitally fluent, technologically adept, and, above all, ethically sound.
We are sharing with our community recent updates to measures related to COVID-19 safety, as emergency declarations for our state and region have recently ended, marking a significant chapter close in the long journey of COVID-19 from pandemic to endemic illness.
The ONE USC Safety Vision is a powerful reminder that our community members come from diverse backgrounds and experiences and that USC must be proactive in ensuring that all students, faculty, staff, neighbors, and campus visitors feel safe.
We are writing to share wonderful news that USC is establishing a new research collaboration with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to improve biomedical research and innovation. It will be funded by the annual proceeds from a $40 million legacy gift from USC’s endowment dedicated to this purpose.
