On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, we are excited to announce the next phase of our presidential search process.
We are writing to update you on the steps that USC is taking to protect our financial sustainability and academic mission. We know that the last several weeks have been stressful for many of you. We have been working diligently to evaluate the evolving landscape and how to safeguard our mission of research, education, and clinical care.
Over the past month, I have heard from many of you regarding federal guidance on issues that could have significant ramifications for universities across the country. We appreciate there is uncertainty and I’m writing to update you on how USC is reviewing and responding to these recently issued executive orders and federal agency directives.

It’s my pleasure to share the exciting news that Stacy Roberts Giwa has been appointed senior vice president of human resources. Stacy has been serving in this role as interim since October 2024. She brings a wide breadth of experience, skills, and expertise to this critical university function. Stacy will oversee USC’s Human Resources, Equity, and Compliance division, as well the Office of Professionalism and Ethics; the Office of Culture, Ethics, and Compliance; and the Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX.

We’re proud and moved to see how Trojans from around the world are reaching out to help those in need. We’ve heard stories of Trojans helping the wildfire response efforts…
Our thoughts and concerns are with those affected by the Los Angeles County wildfires. We’re in close touch with those in need and deeply grateful to the first responders battling these devastating fires.
Our dedicated staff has been working hard to get our campuses ready for the spring semester. We’re thankful for their selfless service, and are ensuring that no one is performing physically strenuous activity outdoors.
We know many of you and your loved ones have been impacted by the fires throughout Los Angeles County and are still facing great uncertainty. Please know that the Trojan Family is with you. With the ongoing threat of wildfires continuing throughout the region, we ask that everyone remain vigilant and heed public safety warnings; your safety is of our highest concern.
