We are writing to update you on the steps that USC is taking to protect our financial sustainability and academic mission. We know that the last several weeks have been stressful for many of you. We have been working diligently to evaluate the evolving landscape and how to safeguard our mission of research, education, and clinical care.
Over the past month, I have heard from many of you regarding federal guidance on issues that could have significant ramifications for universities across the country. We appreciate there is uncertainty and I’m writing to update you on how USC is reviewing and responding to these recently issued executive orders and federal agency directives.

We write to provide an update on the search and recruitment process for our next university president, and on important steps that are underway to build on USC’s momentum by ensuring continuity of leadership and a smooth transition at the end of this academic year.

It’s my pleasure to share the exciting news that Stacy Roberts Giwa has been appointed senior vice president of human resources. Stacy has been serving in this role as interim since October 2024. She brings a wide breadth of experience, skills, and expertise to this critical university function. Stacy will oversee USC’s Human Resources, Equity, and Compliance division, as well the Office of Professionalism and Ethics; the Office of Culture, Ethics, and Compliance; and the Office for Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Title IX.
