Introducing new Early Decision admissions options for Fall 2027 applicants

I am pleased to announce that University of Southern California will expand upon its admissions practices beginning with new student applicants seeking admission for the 2027-2028 academic year. After a successful pilot that occurred this past fall within the Marshall School of Business, the university will offer an Early Decision option to nearly all undergraduate programs in response to growing demand from students who are confident that USC is their top choice college.

While USC’s financial data is publicly available on our website each year, this new report is designed to make that information easier to navigate and understand.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and upon the recommendation of the Presidential Search Committee, we are writing to share that Beong-Soo Kim has been unanimously elected the 13th President of the University of Southern California. He will assume the role effective immediately.

Announcing the Dean of the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work

On behalf of Interim President Beong-Soo Kim, I am delighted to announce that Laura S. Abrams, MSW, PhD, a professor in the Department of Social Welfare, Luskin School of Public Affairs at UCLA, has agreed to serve as the next dean of USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, effective July 1, 2026. Abrams will also be appointed as the David Lawrence Stein/Violet Goldberg Sachs Professor of Mental Health.

Annual drill for an active shooter on Friday, Dec. 19

Announcing USC’s Adoption of ChatGPT Edu

At USC’s recent AI Summit, we shared an exciting announcement:  As part of our commitment to expanding equitable and responsible AI, ChatGPT Edu will be available for our university use in 2026. All active USC students, faculty, and staff (including Keck Medicine of USC) will gain unlimited access to ChatGPT Edu, which includes OpenAI’s most advanced models like GPT-5. 

Announcing Carol Kim as the Vice President, Enrollment Management

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Carol Kim as Vice President, Enrollment Management, effective February 25, 2026. Carol is a visionary, global-enrollment strategist known for building transformative programs from the ground up, creating international partnerships, and expanding access through innovative recruitment and financial aid models. In her new role, she will lead USC’s enrollment strategy and continue our efforts to advance our commitment to academic excellence and access.
