Update on USC’s Public Safety Journey

I am writing to provide important updates about the work of our Department of Public Safety Community Advisory Board (DPS CAB). The result of this effort was the CAB Report, which established the ONE USC Safety Vision as part of a suite of 45 recommendations, grouped into four thematic pillars: accountability, transparency, alternatives to armed response and community care.

Emergency Alert Test Communication

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will hold a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts on Wednesday, October 4.  The tests are scheduled to begin at 11:20 a.m. PT.

A Message from Provost Guzman

Like many of you, university leadership has been following events in the U.S. Congress, as we approach the deadline for a government shutdown, set to begin on Sunday, October 1. At this time, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has not provided final guidance to federal agencies about what actions they may or may not take during a shutdown.

2023 Annual Security & Fire Safety Report Notice of Availability

The USC Department of Public Safety today posted the 2023 Annual Security & Fire Safety Report (ASR). This report is mandated by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, a federal law that requires colleges and universities across the country to disclose information about crimes reported on campus and its surrounding areas.

Announcing USC’s Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer

It is my pleasure to announce Erik Brink as our new senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer. A highly skilled strategist and leader with a passion for the Trojan Family, Erik has nearly two decades of experience in senior finance roles at USC. Erik graciously agreed to serve in this role in an interim capacity earlier this year.
