Fellow Trojans,
I want to alert you to upcoming changes to COVID-19-related requirements for accessing USC’s campuses due to a new L.A. City Council ordinance.
The ordinance, which covers entry requirements for a variety of indoor venues, including restaurants, food courts, coffee shops, and gyms, takes effect on November 8. Because USC’s University Park Campus is home to a number of venues that are subject to this ordinance, the new entry requirements will be enforced at our campus perimeter.
Community access to our campus facilities is a priority, and we will continue to partner with community members to ensure a safe environment for all.
Proof of vaccination or recent test required for all guests and visitors
Beginning November 8, guests and visitors aged 12 and older should be prepared to show proof of vaccination to enter campus. Either a physical CDC-issued vaccine card, or a digital copy (available from the State of California here) will be accepted. This proof must be accompanied by a photo ID.
The mandate requires that individuals are fully vaccinated, which means that two weeks must have passed after the second dose of a two-dose series, or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
As an alternative, guests or visitors who have a medical or religious objection to obtaining a COVID-19 vaccination may produce a negative COVID-19 test taken in the past 72 hours, together with a photo ID.
If you are inviting guests or visitors to campus, please make sure they are aware of these new city-wide requirements.
Increased testing for students, faculty, and staff who have received an approved exemption
Likewise, beginning on November 8, students, faculty, and staff who are unvaccinated because they received an approved medical or religious exemption will be required to test every 72 hours in order to access campus. For this group only, Trojan Check requirements will be updated to reflect the new testing frequency.
As before, tests can be scheduled through MySHR. The cost of these tests will continue to be borne by the university.
