I am honored to chair the President’s AI Strategy Committee, which will bring together faculty and leaders from across USC to guide how we integrate artificial intelligence ethically and responsibly into our teaching, learning, and academic lives. As Interim President Kim has noted, this is a pivotal moment: AI is reshaping every aspect of education and work. Our responsibility is to ensure students graduate fully equipped to leverage these tools while also cultivating the human qualities—leadership, creativity, ingenuity, collaboration, and compassion—that remain essential.
This committee’s work will unfold in several ways. Most immediately, I invite you to save the date and join us for USC’s first AI Summit on Tuesday, November 11. This will be a gathering of scholars, industry experts, educators, and students exploring the future of AI in the classroom. Together, we will examine best practices, share perspectives, and chart opportunities for USC to lead. We invite the community to participate in programming planning via the Request for Proposals. Additional details including an official invitation will be shared in the coming weeks.
This is only the beginning of a university-wide conversation. Our work will be guided by your participation, questions, interests, and ideas. I look forward to engaging with you in the weeks and months ahead—and to seeing many of you at the AI Summit in November.
With gratitude,
Geoff Garrett
Dean, USC Marshall School of Business
