Announcing USC’s AI Summit and AI Strategy Committee

October 6, 2025

Dear Trojan Family,

Every day, artificial intelligence becomes a more visible part of our lives — from how we learn and work to how we connect with each other. One of my top priorities as president is to harness USC’s opportunity to lead in the age of AI, and I’m pleased to announce two major initiatives that will guide how we integrate this technology across our academic mission in an ethical and responsible manner.

On Tuesday, November 11, USC will host its first AI Summit, gathering a wide range of experts for a conference centered on best practices in AI and education. We look forward to bringing together the best cross-disciplinary minds — along with student voices — to share their perspectives and spark discussions about AI’s future in the classroom. We will share more details about this event soon.

As previously shared, I have also asked USC Marshall Dean Geoff Garrett to lead a new President’s AI Strategy Committee, comprised of deans, faculty, and researchers from across the university. The committee will explore how AI can reshape teaching and learning at USC — ensuring our students are fluent with AI tools while developing the human qualities AI can’t replace. By integrating these skills throughout our curriculum ethically and responsibly, we will prepare students to navigate this era of rapid technological and societal transformation.

I want to thank Dean Garrett and the committee members for stepping up to lead this important effort. Their work will ensure that USC’s use of AI reflects our mission to advance knowledge and enrich the learning experience for all Trojans.

Fight On!

Interim President
