Subject: Exposition Park to host both LAFC and USC Trojans matches on November 5
Congratulations to the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), which won its Western Conference Championship game last weekend. As a result of its victory, the team will play the Philadelphia Union for the MLS Cup. With the USC Trojans taking on the California Golden Bears, Expo Park will host two major sporting events on Saturday November 5, 2022. LAFC takes the field at Banc of California Stadium at 1:00 p.m., while the Trojans kick off at 7:30 p.m.
Fans traveling to the area, as well as faculty, staff, and students accessing campus, should expect delays and disruptions as a result of higher-than-normal vehicle and foot traffic.
Crowds cheering on LAFC are expected to impact the Expo Park area from approximately 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., with peak traffic likely between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. as fans arrive, and between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. as they depart.
LAFC is asking its fans not to park in the area and, instead, to use the Metro E Line or rideshare to get to the game. LAFC is also providing free shuttles from Dodger Stadium, where complimentary parking will be made available for 5,000 cars. These buses will drop off and depart along Exposition Boulevard. As a result, Exposition Boulevard’s eastbound lanes will be completely closed from Vermont Avenue to Figueroa Street between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
USC fans will be able to access parking lots at Expo Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. Parking for USC fans will also be available on campus beginning at 1:30 p.m. LAFC fans will not be allowed to park on campus prior to their match, so we do not anticipate interruptions to campus parking.
If you plan to access the University Park Campus or Expo Park on November 5, please expect significant area congestion and delays. Those arriving from the 110 freeway should plan to exit at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Exposition Boulevard, or Adams Street. Those coming from the 10 freeway should plan to exit at Vermont Avenue or Hoover Street, or transition to the 110 freeway south.
Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation on what will be an exciting – but very busy – afternoon and evening.
