RE: Reminder of COVID-19 Booster Deadline—January 30

Please be reminded that the university deadline to receive COVID-19 boosters is Sunday, January 30.

All students in on-campus programs, all faculty, and all university staff are required to receive a COVID-19 booster (if in the eligible timeframe). Completion of a booster when eligible brings you to the “up to date on vaccinations” status on Trojan Check.

  • • Eligibility for boosters is 5 months after completing a Pfizer, Moderna, or EUL-approved primary series; 2 months after Johnson & Johnson primary dose.
  • • You have a one-month grace period to receive a booster.

If you are eligible for a booster, but have not yet received one, you are required to test at a regular cadence to access campus (reflected through your Trojan Check):

  • • STUDENTS: Twice weekly, every 4 days
  • • FACULTY AND UNIVERSITY STAFF: Once weekly, every 8 days

For example, your booster eligibility begins on January 15 if you completed Pfizer/Moderna with a second dose on August 15, OR you completed a Johnson & Johnson single dose on November 15.

With a booster eligibility of January 15, your completion date to meet the requirement is February 15. If you HAVE NOT YET received your booster by January 30, you are required to test regularly beginning on January 30 until February 15, or until you have received a booster that is reflected in your MySHR record. Upload your booster documentation if you do not see your status updated accurately.

After the January 30 deadline, the university may apply restrictions and/or progressive actions for individuals who are out of compliance with the booster requirement.

Students in online degree programs who do not access the UPC and HSC campuses are not beholden to this requirement. Students, faculty and university staff with approved exemptions are not beholden to this requirement.

NOTE: If you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, you are recommended to receive a booster as soon as your isolation period ends.

Questions on COVID-19 vaccines and booster requirements may be directed to covid19@usc.edu, or by phone to 213-740-6291.

Your ongoing cooperation in creating a campus environment protected from COVID-19 is greatly appreciated.
