11/13: Spring semester likely to begin with the same online instruction we’ve had during the fall

The recent rise in COVID-19 cases in L.A. County makes it likely that we begin the spring semester with the same remote instruction we’ve had during the fall and no additional students in residence halls, Provost Charles Zukoswki writes in a memo to the USC community.

The university remains hopeful that at some point during the semester we will be able to have some students return to campus for in-person and hybrid learning, offer on-campus student activities and provide greater access to instructional facilities and research labs.

University officials are meeting regularly with county health officials, and conditions can change quickly.

Finally, everyone is reminded to be diligent regarding safety protocols, including physical distancing, wearing a face covering, avoiding gatherings outside your household and frequently washing your hands.
