8/11: Important Information on Fall Housing Policies

Welcome to USC Housing. As you enter this community, we want you to be aware of the additional policies and procedures established to maintain community safety and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following policies are based on city, county, state and federal guidelines and best practices for health and safety, and will be strictly enforced.  Please read through them carefully and do not hesitate to reach out to USC Residential Education (resed@usc.edu) should you have any questions.

  • USC Housing COVID-19 Policies
    • Common Spaces (i.e. inside the residential community, including hallways and stairwells, but outside of your room/apartment/suite)
      • Face coverings must be worn at all times over the nose and mouth.
      • Physical distancing (i.e., six-feet separation) is required at all times.
      • Elevators can only be used by one person at a time.
      • Laundry rooms, mailrooms, and outside seating will be limited to the number of students who can safely stay six-feet apart.
      • Other common spaces will be closed completely (gym equipment, recreational rooms, study rooms, lounges, etc.).
      • If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be required to quarantine or isolate, including the possibility of moving to a different facility for the duration of the quarantine or isolation.
    • Room/Apartment/Suite – “Your cone of safety”
      • You and all your suitemates/apartments will be in a “cone of safety” together.
      • Face coverings are encouraged.
      • Physical distancing is encouraged.
      • Residents are not permitted to bring any guests/visitors into the residential community. This includes parents, guardians, siblings and other relatives.
      • Regular hand hygiene is highly recommended.

Failure to follow these requirements, and any others that are determined necessary to protect the health, safety and well-being of our entire community, will lead to disciplinary actions that may include removal from USC Housing.

In addition, the standard policies apply from the USC Housing Living Agreement during this time. Please familiarize yourself with all USC Housing policies by reading the document carefully.

If you feel sick and have any of the symptoms of COVID-19, please make an appointment with USC Student Health on MySHR or call the USC Student Health line, 213-740-9355.

If you need to leave your room or apartment, please remember to take your keys and ID with you. Due to a reduced number of staff on campus, response time for lockouts will vary. In addition, please remember that you will be required to demonstrate that you have completed the Trojan Check wellness assessment every time you exit your residential building.

We are counting on you to help keep the community safe. Please do not hesitate to contact us at resed@usc.edu should any additional questions or needs arise.

Sincerely,
USC Office for Residential Education
