11/6: Reminder to avoid groups and continue COVID-19 safety behaviors

USC Student Health’s Sarah Van Orman underscores the importance of avoiding groups — even small groups — as well as maintaining hand hygiene, face covering and physical distancing behaviors.

The past week has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among students and employees: There are now 29 active cases, up from a low of 8 average weekly cases two weeks ago. In many cases, the transmission has been through close contact with a small number of people — small gatherings with family and friends, study groups and travel.

“We can continue to make progress,” Van Orman writes, “but only if we keep our guard up as we head into the winter months.”
