Annenberg International Programs
Annenberg International Programs offers dynamic study abroad programs specifically designed to expand upon and enhance the communication, public relations, and journalism curriculum found at Annenberg. Program options range from semester-long to summer experiential programs and short-term spring break career immersions that are open to eligible undergraduate students and graduate students, and select programs are open to all USC majors.
Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy
The USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy offers extensive and unique opportunities for students to study abroad during their graduate education. Overseas opportunities include fieldwork (clinical training), doctoral residency, and short-term externship experiences which can be undertaken with a broad array of global partners. Since 2013, USC Chan students have completed travel abroad experiences in more than 35 countries on 6 continents.
Dornsife Faculty-Led Programs
Dornsife Faculty-Led Programs (FLP) are open to undergraduates from all schools and include a wide array of options such as Problems without Passports, core courses, and basic language courses that reflect various disciplines and studies, include domestic and international travel and range in duration from one week to an entire semester. There are a dynamic variety of session choices for students to choose from such as Julymester, Fall Break, Spring Semester, Spring Semester Tail, Spring Break, Maymester, and Departmental Summer.
Dornsife Overseas Studies
USC Dornsife programs are open to undergraduates from all schools. They offer exciting and diverse opportunities to spend a semester or year studying abroad with over 60 programs in over 25 countries, as well as a summer program at Cambridge. Some programs include opportunities for research, field work, internships, or community service projects. All students are encouraged to integrate study abroad into their USC experience.
Gould School of Law’s Externship Program
The externship program affords Gould’s J.D. students opportunities to earn academic credit working outside the United States for a semester with organizations such as the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg or courts in The Hague. Application processes can be lengthy, so interested students should contact the Direct of Externships as early as possible at externassistance@law.usc.edu.
Department of Population and Public Health Sciences
The Department of Preventive Medicine offers unique international study experiences in various countries around the world. These opportunities are led by USC faculty experts in global health and may include cultural immersion, public health research, experiential learning, and practicum/internships. The programs are open to all USC graduate students.
Keck School of Medicine
The Keck School of Medicine supports international research and clinical experiences for medical students. Pre-Clinical students have the opportunity to conduct international research as a Summer Research Fellow. Students in their post-clerkship phase can receive elective credit for 2-4 week clinical international rotations or complete a year of international research as a Dean’s Research Scholar.
Master of Science in Global Medicine Program
Global Medicine students have the opportunity to travel three times per year. Our 10-14 day study away courses provide students with the opportunity to observe healthcare scenarios and meet with healthcare leaders in clinical, business, and NGO settings. With opportunities in over twelve countries, on five continents, our most recent study away courses have been held in Japan, Panama, Nepal, Denmark, India, Malaysia, and South Africa.
Leonard Davis School of Gerontology Study Abroad
Every summer, students from the USC Leonard Davis School and across the university will travel across the world to explore aging! Course topics range from how nutrition and food culture affect longevity to how psychology changes with aging and how death customs and ceremonies vary throughout ancient and modern societies. Want to join students on these exciting and educational adventures? Courses are available to outside individuals (requires enrolling as a limited-status student).
Mann School Office of Global Initiatives
Through its extensive network of partners, the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Office of Global Initiatives offers practice-oriented international experiences designed to foster global learning for future healthcare professionals. Global Pharmacy Experiences (GPEs) are short-term (typically two-week) programs for individuals or groups of students to explore the practice of pharmacy in various international settings. International Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences are intensive six-week rotations for P4 students hosted by institutional partners in multiple countries. Undergraduates can gain valuable insights into pharmacy practices worldwide through faculty-led programs. Mann School students also pursue international experiences through the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation.
Marshall Global Programs and Partnerships (GPP)
USC Marshall Global Programs and Partnerships (GPP) manages global immersion courses for undergraduate and graduate students. The experiential nature of these programs positions students inside a true global lab offering hands-on project work and dynamic visits to global companies that leverage the Trojan Network. Additionally, GPP offers MBA study abroad exchange opportunities for students seeking a further immersive global experience at Marshall. No matter which international opportunity they choose, students build both competence and confidence as well as develop global eyes.
Marshall School of Business Undergraduate International Programs
USC Marshall School of Business Undergraduate International Programs offer a full portfolio of in-country immersive programs with a focus on global business studies and training. We offer full-semester, study-abroad opportunities where students may satisfy business requirements (open to business and accounting majors only), as well as international summer internships and short-term study programs (open to all majors).
Price Global Engagement Office
International Labs are experiential learning opportunities in which USC students integrate classroom knowledge with professional practice by providing policy-related consulting services outside the United States. Lab participants collaborate as multidisciplinary teams to address a particular project identified by the client in the host country. Students analyze information pertinent to the project and its context, then produce a set of recommendations for accomplishing project objectives.
The Price International Lab, a four-unit graduate course, provides the essential clinical link between academic education and professional practice in a foreign setting. It also provides a significant opportunity for students to work in multidisciplinary teams, apply respective capabilities and knowledge to a common problem, and experience different cultures.
Price Real Estate
RED 585: Comparative International Development Workshop (2.0 units) – An international study tour class which includes a 10-day professional-level overseas visit. MRED students meet notable developers, government officials and prominent business leaders who are actively involved in the international real estate community.
RED 469: Mixed Use Development Process (4.0 units) – An international study tour class that includes a spring break field project focusing on the design, financial, legal and management challenges of mixed-use real estate developments.
Price Student Affairs
The USC Price School recognizes the importance of training the next generation of professionals to be competitive in a globalized context. The Price School has partnered with institutions across the world to establish exchange programs for students to enrich their learning experiences. These semester-long programs are one-to-one exchanges and afford Price students the opportunity to study at one of our partner schools and students of our partner schools to study at USC.
Roski School Study Abroad
Roski School Study Abroad programs offer students the opportunity to enrich their studio practice with a global perspective. These include partnerships through a range of schools from Europe to Australia through the Dornsife Office of Overseas Studies, and a direct partnership with the University of the Arts London (UAL). We also offer short-term faculty-led international Study Tours (e.g. Maymester).
School of Architecture
The USC School of Architecture offers multiple study abroad opportunities created to coincide with our specific architecture curriculum. Offerings change periodically in order to better meet the needs of the students and align with the mission of the school’s global initiatives.
Viterbi School of Engineering
USC Viterbi offers an array of overseas experiences from Viterbi Maymester and Fall Lead programs to semester long exchange programs and a summer research program. Viterbi study abroad programs help Viterbi students gain a global engineering perspective while working towards their academic and career goals.
USC Career Center’s Global Fellows Internship Program
The USC Career Center’s Global Fellows Internship Program provides funding for USC undergraduates to live and intern in Asia for ten weeks during the summer. This program seeks to promote understanding and develop quality work relationships and experiences between the United States and Asia.
USC Africa Student Fund
The USC Africa Student Fund is a scholarship intended to support undergraduate student travel to African countries for study, research, service-based learning, and internships. Students who have identified a project or program are invited to apply with this funding in mind. Winners may receive full or partial funding to help cover airfare costs associated with their proposed project or program.
