Dear Colleagues,
I’m pleased to announce that Gregg Goldman will be joining USC as executive vice president for finance and operations, a newly created position. Gregg’s tentative start date is August 10.
By bringing together the core non-academic operations of the university, this new position will allow us to build and allocate resources more strategically across our entire enterprise, streamline decision-making, and better support our academic mission. SVP and CFO Erik Brink and SVP for Administration David Wright will both report into this new position, along with their teams, including budget and financial planning, public safety, IT, facilities and construction, real estate, campus housing, and other auxiliary services. The executive vice president will also share oversight of the Health System’s finances.
It is difficult to imagine anyone better suited for this role than Gregg, who previously served as chief financial officer and senior associate dean, finance and administration at the USC Marshall School of Business for more than a decade. Gregg went on to serve as the chief financial officer at the University of Arizona and UCLA. Most recently, Gregg has been serving as executive vice president for finance and operations at the University of Minnesota, where he is responsible for an operating budget of over $5 billion and a 2,700-person staff across five campuses and a medical center.
In all of these roles, Gregg has excelled through an approach that combines professionalism, creativity, determination, kindness, and collaboration. During his interviews on campus, Gregg struck everyone as the perfect person to improve and innovate our operating model in order to advance our academic goals and ambitions.
Please join me in welcoming Gregg back to USC.
Fight On!
Beong-Soo Kim
